Having had to switch days, and towns, due to this year's first attempt being nobbled by balloonists, it will come as no surprise when I reveal that I partially failed again. This time it was due to the new cafe, chosen by the person I was meeting, being closed on Mondays, lol.

Having partially failed at theme III.(c) in 2011 and 2012, then failed to attempt the June challenge at all from 2018-22, I have today completely failed at theme III.(c). I was beaten by an unexpected balloon festival. No, rly. Might try again on Monday. /end report

My second

flaneurs June challenge II.(a), walking alongside the railway line, from Leamington Spa to Warwick wasn't an unmitigated success or it would have continued to Warwick Parkway. Also, the com now needs "themes: y halo thar Mr Plod" and "themes: unexpected satanism" tags. ;-) Report at my journal:

I enjoyed the June challenges so much that I attempted another in July. I attempted I.(a) - get on the first bus that comes along and get off when you see something interesting. Unfortunately it didn't work so well for me, so then I did something else..

I went for a walk in Birmingham as III(c) of the June challenge. I arrived, randomly, at New Street Station and had decided to walk as far as possible through pedestrianised Brum to Brindleyplace and the Ikon Gallery cafe (note: measured by distance walked not crow flies as the pedestrianised area isn't a straight line).

This month I was challenged by

kake to visit the Cider Museum in Hereford. Naturally, I managed to walk past almost ALL the Hereford with the exception of the Cider Museum.

I've only been to the city twice before but I have a theory that Hereford is the closest point of overlap between Terry Pratchett's Discworld and our roundworld. The chained library in the cathedral is only the beginning....

(Yes, I've seen the kind modly extension but I reject it and embrace my failure! And I'd already written my report....)

For theme II (lines), I picked (a), where you choose a railway terminus and walk along the line that terminates there, or as close to it as possible. Since I started my walk at 8:30 PM, I went for the minimum of one hour.
