I enjoyed the June challenges so much that I attempted another in July. I attempted I.(a) - get on the first bus that comes along and get off when you see something interesting. Unfortunately it didn't work so well for me, so then I did something else..
I walked to the station, bought a travel card and waited at the nearest bus stop. I had failed to realise previously that only one bus stops at that stop - the H37 to Hounslow. The bus came, I jumped aboard. At first, the bus was crowded and I couldn't even see out the window, but then it emptied out a bit, and I managed to get a seat and started staring.
I saw an elderly couple in a house, who appeared to just be watching the street, motionless, but then realised they were just statues. I was tempted to get off the bus then, but concluded there must be something more interesting than that coming up. I saw "Star Lane", and that was tempting too. I saw a sign for a clock tower, and was tempted by that. But still, I stayed on the bus, waiting, just waiting, to see something more interesting. What happened was just as I had feared - I never saw anything interesting enough that I felt like I should get off the bus, and was always in anticipation of what would come next, thinking that there would be something more interesting at the next stop. "Like life?" I wondered.
The bus terminated at Hounslow Blenheim Centre. I got off the bus, wondered if I could get onto a different bus, but did not see any, so concluded I would explore Hounslow.
It was then that I decided I would complete a mission from Super Going: Buy something strange for one dollar. (Anyone else on Super Going?)

It can be difficult to know when "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" but, unlike with some other parts of life, with urban walking you can usually revisit a might-have-been, so you could go and investigate one of your nearly-dids or maybe walk from one to another?
