Photos: Tuscola Winter Window Walk Part 1

Monday we visited Tuscola so I could take pictures of the holiday window paintings. These were done by Libby Neathery of Libby Jo Art Studio and there are 22 in this year's batch. I did not find quite all of them but I came close. Despite changing the camera batteries right before we left home, I barely got through the two sides of the block with Flesor's Candy Kitchen before the batteries died, so we had to stop and get new ones. I did manage to finish photographing the rest of the windows we found. I love seeing local artists do things like this, because it encourages people to get out and look for them. This is a wide view of the pocket park on Main Street.




A stack of holiday gifts spells out JOY.




This is the Little Free Library.




On the left side of the Little Free Library is a clear box with the winter windows scavenger hunt checklist and some pencils. If you fill it out and leave the checklist at the library, you get entered in a drawing for weekly prizes. That's a fun bit of community spirit.

The Little ODD Pantry is hosted by the Tuscola chapter of Odd Fellows Lodge.




There are two snow globes as part of Window 2, starting with this truck.




The other snow globe has a snowman, and you can see the little 2 in the bottom corner of the window. These are in the order I walked, not their numeric order.




Window 3 has hats and gloves.




This green hat with holly is part of Window 5.




The boot has the number 5.




Window 6 features polar bears.




Some poor guy was out there trying to dig a foundation hole in frozen ground. Instead of the normal scraping, crunching sound it made these loud "clang, bonk" noises.




Window 8 has a church. I'm amused by the name of Savior Roofing -- a carpenter reference.




Window 9 has snowflakes.




This part of Window 10 is a fireplace.




The number 10 is under the evergreen branch.




Window 11 is a penguin in a martini.




Window 12 is for a coffeehouse and there are 6 windows in this set, starting with this marshmallow snowman in a cup.




This cup has a red wrapper.




This cup has a green wrapper and a candy cane.




This white cup has marshmallows and a gingerbread cookie.




This white cup has cinnamon sticks.




This white cup has a chocolate bar and finally number 12.

Is there a Saviour Insurance yet? ;-)

My favourite window is the penguin, but that probably goes without saying.

I felt so sorry for that guy. I mean it's a hard enough job when the ground is soft, this just seemed like an exercise in frustration.

Not that I have seen, but another nearby town has a food pantry called the Carpenter's Table. I think that's another good one. At least they're following the furnished examples of how to take care of people.

The penguin is very cute. :D
