August penguins in Worcester

If anyone is looking for a venue for an August walk then Worcester will have a penguins trail through the mostly pedestrianised city centre and along the river (which has pedestrian footbridges). The canal towpaths are also, of course, pedestrianised and meet both the river and the city centre. A very walkable small city and not expensive by UK standards. /I don't actually work for the local tourist board, honest

Penguin sculptures!

Yay for Worcester, sounds as if they're really doing it right.

Not just penguins but penguins raising money for the local hospice (no contribution required to walk the trail). Worcester has a lot of non-road bike paths too. It's not always easy to cross into the surrounding countryside but the city itself is very non-car friendly.

The other advantage of riverside cities is the riverside part tends to be flat (-ish) so wheels work reasonably well (although there are a few peripheral older sections with bumpy paving). In conclusion, PENGUINS.
