Hello flaneurs! I thought we could start off this community by finding out a bit about each other and our interests. I don't have any fixed ideas about how I want the community to be used, and am happy to let it evolve in response to its members' desires.
So, if you feel so inclined, please leave a comment below! Here are some suggestions for you to copy/paste and fill in, but these are all optional — feel free to use just the ones you want to answer, or even to forget about them entirely and write something freeform.

Date: 2011-05-09 07:57 pm (UTC)My next urban ramble/adventure will probably be: Edinburgh, currently exploring, and this is my first attempt to film it.
Favourite type(s) of urban environment: One that can be walked to or reached by public transport.
Favourite type(s) of constraint (for those who like putting constraints on their rambles): Quite erratic. Sometimes I walk out of the house and go on instinct, other times I throw darts at a board, sometimes I pick two streets that are alphabetically consecutive and chart a route, sometimes I wander in geometric shapes, spell out words, anything, really.
Cities/towns I've explored (and how): Too many to list here, in many countries, and mostly on foot.
Cities/towns I want to explore (and why): Anywhere as long as it's made for walking.
Three things I tend to notice when I'm wandering through a city: Bookstores, museums, particular architecture, pub names, cafes, statues, markings on the road, faded paint, etc. I also can't count, this is a failing of mine.
Anything else relevant: I have an excellent sense of direction. I will end up at my destination, it's only a matter of how long it takes me.

Date: 2011-05-09 08:14 pm (UTC)re: darts, I have a map of both city and country at home, and throw sticky tack at them because I don't want to damage my maps. When on the computer I bring up Google maps and keysmash into it, so it can say 'did you mean X' etc. Good fun!
