I tried a form of alternating travel once — it was something like take the second left, take the third right, repeat until bored. It didn't work out very interesting, but perhaps that was due to a bad choice of starting point.

I would be really interested to read about your experiences with this! I actually thought you might have posted about it before, but I can't find the post so maybe I imagined it.

Oh! And looking at the Wikipedia page on experimental travel, I guess the iterative pub crawl counts.
