I've been doing a lot of walking lately. But mostly in the countryside, so I was more a rambler than a flaneur. But while getting those pictures posted, I found the photos from my walk along Regent's Canal - in April. Ooops.
In April, when I had just found this community, I got it into my head that I wanted to walk the whole of Regent's Canal. I'd done parts of it before but I'm a completionist at heart so I wanted to do it all.
So I used one of the first sunny days to do just that. Limehouse Basin to Paddington Basin.
It was a fun walk
of roughly 14km of locks, bridges and a few tunnels...
Obviously I couldn't start at Limehouse, because the canal connects to the Thames. So, DLR to Westferry and walk to the starting point. I don't argue with my brain any more, I just follow instructions.Starting out somewhere in the Docklands.
The locks are numbered, so just right of here lies lock number 13 - Limehouse Basin Lock
Limehouse Basin. Admire the DLR train and marina.
Lock number 12. The tow path starts here.
There's bits of the path that are quiet.
Others are more busy.
And then there is Camden...
Random bits of art all along the way:
People live on the canal
Use it for practicing ... something
Taking breaks
And training
Parts are a bit gritty.
Others rather posh
All in all, just
really, really
fun.
