I enjoy writing the reports and chatting about the places but it's time-consuming and I understand why some people just post a comment to the challenge posts. I look forward, as ever, to seeing/reading your adventures!

It's mostly the dealing with photos that is slowing me down currently. Wondering about getting a second Flickr account for photos that are more for just recording purposes as opposed to because they are decent photos. Or may copy your approach with photos. Hmm.

I use my flickr for everything and anyone browsing there can decide for themselves what's documentary and what's art. It helps that I don't generally make "sets" so I know my old caps will tend to disappear into the backlog of my photostream and not end up representing me on the front page forever, especially as flickr seems determined to undermine any functional search via an individual's tags &c. And, of course, I have the excuse of a terrible point n shoot camera. My caps of a recent flan in Brum are especially awful as you will eventually see, heh, because I ended up shooting into the light too much because that's what it was like when I was there (and luckily I don't have sophisticated processing software to tempt me into wasting time trying to rescue the images). I miss the quality of my old 35mm SLR but if I still had it I'd never process and post photos online.

My journal is my only substantial online presence because I can't compartmentalise my mind/life into the categories site builders use to commercialise their users' content. ::shrugs::

Ah, I actually meant setting photos on Flickr to not be public, but still posting the image from them. :) I tried that for a few Clo-May posts.

In the end, for my last challenge write up, I did decide to post my photos on Flickr, set to public, even if some were blurry. :) if they end up as the wallpaper on my mum's computer, so be it!

What excellent photos you ended up with! And I have now learned the name "fingerposts", which I didn't previously know. I love the optical illusion.

The cap of St Mary and St Stephen's church is unforgivably wonky but there was nothing to be done to get a better angle. I was extremely lucky with the caps I took from the boat though. (My most recent set of caps from Brum are the WORST photo set I've ever considered posting on t'interwebz but still, I hope, better than laboriously linking to other people's better images, or nothing at all). I hope your flanage is going well!

I think older fingerposts are mostly a countryside phenomenon although I've noticed new ones appearing for tourists, especially in pedestrianised areas (like traditional footpath signs). The most obscure street furniture word you need in South London is probably "coalposts" or something, heh.

Unexpected boat rides are the best! I've completed my bus flânage. Not sure I'll have time to do any others as I have lots of walking to do for other projects, but I'll try.
