Introductions
Hello flaneurs! I thought we could start off this community by finding out a bit about each other and our interests. I don't have any fixed ideas about how I want the community to be used, and am happy to let it evolve in response to its members' desires.
So, if you feel so inclined, please leave a comment below! Here are some suggestions for you to copy/paste and fill in, but these are all optional — feel free to use just the ones you want to answer, or even to forget about them entirely and write something freeform.

My next urban ramble/adventure will probably be: Chicago has a path along the lake with parks between it and the city buildings, so you get urban wilderness with an amazing view of the city. I've never walked the length of it.
Cities/towns I've explored (and how): I tend to be timid about exploring so I get to know a city by noticing things on the way to a definite destination. San Francisco was the exception because I walked everywhere there and I was absolutely in love with the city. I've lived all over the United States but San Francisco is the city of my heart.
Cities/towns I want to explore (and why): Chicago! Because I live here and I haven't so far.
Three things I tend to notice when I'm wandering through a city: Old buildings with unusual architectural details, neighborhoods with a strong individual flavor (like ethnic or trendy/artistic). Sudden green spaces and urban wildlife. Restaurants with a cuisine I've never tried before. Bookstores. Used furniture stores.
Anything else relevant: I'm hoping this community will provide inspiration to get out of my apartment and get to know Chicago. I haven't bonded with this city yet and I'd like to. Also, I'm out of shape and walking is the best exercise.
